The Folkestone Air Raid

This bombing raid saw the death of almost 100 people - including many children. 

Names (W)

Doris Eileen Spencer Walton, Elizabeth Charlotte Waugh, Isabel Wilson ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Doris Eileen Spencer Walton - age 16, Doris was a boarder at the Mount School and was killed by shrapnel whilst playing tennis.  No headstone found but its sides are inscribed, buried in section 17, grave 431 Elizabeth Charlotte Waugh - age 48, wife of a soldier on foreign service, Elizabeth was a needlewomen by trade.  No headstone in place,  buried in section 20, grave 1860 Isabel Wilson - age 80, the oldest victim of the air raid and the widow of James Wilson a market gardener.  No headstone found, buried in section 3, grave 8687 These brief descriptions were taken from ‘A Glint In The Sky’, author Martin Easdown with Thomas Genth. The book which is well worth ordering contains much more detail about each person.
