The Folkestone Air Raid

This bombing raid saw the death of almost 100 people - including many children. 

Names (S)

William Henry & Arthur Ernest Stokes (father and son) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ William Henry & Arthur Ernest Stokes (father and son)  - ages 46 and 14 respectively, William Stokes was the joint owner of Stokes the greengrocers, William also jointly operated the Folkestone Shipping Company which imported coal on a lugger.  Arthur was helping his father at the shop when the bomb fell. Gravestone is in place, buried in section 5, grave 3653   These brief descriptions were taken from ‘A Glint In The Sky’, author Martin Easdown with Thomas Genth. The book which is well worth ordering contains much more detail about each person.
