The Folkestone Air Raid

This bombing raid saw the death of almost 100 people - including many children. 

Names (R)

Mabel Reed, John Walter Francis (Jackie) Robinson, Florence (Florrie) Rumsey ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mabel Reed - age 12 years old and daughter of a cab driver. Gravestone is in place, buried in section 20, grave 1857 John Walter Francis (Jackie) Robinson - age 5 years old, John was the son of Corporal John and Grace Robinson and was out shopping with his mother who was injured. Gravestone is in place, buried in section 29, grave 5787 Florence (Florrie) Rumsey - age 17 years old, Florrie was the daughter of George a fish merchant and his wife Louisa. Gravestone is in place, buried in section 20, grave 1862   These brief descriptions were taken from ‘A Glint In The Sky’, author Martin Easdown with Thomas Genth. The book which is well worth ordering contains much more detail about each person.
