The Folkestone Air Raid

This bombing raid saw the death of almost 100 people - including many children.

Agnes Curran (Madge) McDonald, Albert Edward Charles (Charlie) McDonald, Elizabeth Maxted, Ernest Henry McGuire ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Agnes Curran (Madge) McDonald - age 22, Madge was a Canadian typist who came to England to assist in war work. Gravestone in place, buried in section 20, grave 1874 Albert Edward Charles (Charlie) McDonald - age 12, son of Albert a seaman and Jessie McDonald. Charlie was an errand boy for Timothy Whites. Gravestone in place, buried in section 20, grave 1865 Elizabeth Maxted - age 31, Madge was wife of William Maxted a butchers manager. Gravestone in place, buried in section 20, grave 1700 Ernest Henry McGuire - age 6, Ernie was the son of Harry McGuire a fireman, he mother was injured in the raid. Gravestone in place, buried in section 29, grave 5764   These brief descriptions were taken from ‘A Glint In The Sky’, author Martin Easdown with Thomas Genth.
