Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) ensures that 1.7 million people who died in the two world wars will never be forgotten. The CWGC cares for cemeteries and memorials at 23,000 locations, in 154 countries.

Rank: Deck hand Reg: Royal Naval Reserve, WW1 Age: 27 Date of death: 15/02/1918 Desc: Private memorial, 5ft white marble headstone with white marble kerbs and clipped flat grass infilling. Along with other drifters, they were hunting a u-boat when they were attacked by German destroyers. Map Ref:  51.084154 1.161239 Note: The son of George and Susannah Heydon of 46 Grove Road Folkestone. An Air Mechanic in the Royal Naval Air Service. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission lists his unit as HMS President II. HMS President was an accounting base for men who were between ships, or in units or at places too small to have their own accounting services. Holliday, T Rank: Private Reg: Kent Cyclist Battalion, WW1 Age: Date of death: 11/01/1917 Desc: Private memorial, 4ft 6ins fluted top york headstone with york stone kerbs and clipped flat grass infilling.
